Here are some excellent articles on midwifery that helped my wife and I choose to use a midwife over conventional birthing methods:

We used Idaho Balsam Fir applied directly to bring down the swelling in the crown babies have when they’re born.
Sarah used Gentle Baby for a few months up to birth to prepare her paranethium for birth. She did not need an epesiotomy.
We used eucalyptus oils on her chest and back and throat for her lungs. Her lungs cleared up in less than two weeks, all naturally.
Jessica had little congestion in her lungs because she came a few days past due. The doctors at the hospital didn’t give her any drugs or anything else. We just wanted to stay overnight and make sure she was good.

TK asked: I remember having my mind made up on choosing a natural birth. However, I have met several people who have had their mind made up on interventions. I don’t want to overwhelm a person, or turn them off from the idea…I just want to give facts and gently encourage a woman to choose natural childbirth. How do I go about this?
DOULAS and MIDWIVES, your answers are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the positive help. HouseMom…you have it nailed. Unfortunately, people aren’t as open to it as we are. It is very disappointing.
Christiana…I am sorry you feel like your baby runs on your time. I am sorry you had missed out on the joy of waiting and anticipating. Instead, you chose to do a CSection because of your agenda. That wasn’t what the procedure was intended for. It is meant for complications, extremely prolonged births, risks with the baby, etc.
Also, I don’t walk up to random people on the street to tell them to have a natural birth. As a doula would tell you, as mine told me, a good friend is there to encourage you, no matter what decision you make. However, those decisions should be informed decisions. You shouldn’t go into the birthing room without a solid plan.

sonia989 asked:
K., mother of four, discusses the birth experience with and without epidural and episiotomy. Just hours after the natural birth of her daughter, K. is up and about, feeling fine.
She strongly recommends natural birth, but does take into account that she had all the support necessary to do this. In particular, she had a great doula and delivery team, her partner was by her side, and she used a birthing ball, which greatly decreased the pain.
Many women want to give birth naturally, but without the assistance, caring, sympathy and support of an experienced doula, nurse, midwife, doctor or other person, it is extremely hard to go through childbirth without pain relief. But as you see here, K. made it through and is feeling fabulous.
