How long after a natural childbirth(on average)before you can take a bath instead of a shower? Any exceptions?

I had no stitches just a teeny tear which has healed now but I did have a catheter before and after the birth and it still gives me some discomfort. So will a bath hurt it any more than taking a shower. (it is uncomfortable mostly after a warm shower.)
