I remember having my mind made up on choosing a natural birth. However, I have met several people who have had their mind made up on interventions. I don’t want to overwhelm a person, or turn them off from the idea…I just want to give facts and gently encourage a woman to choose natural childbirth. How do I go about this?
DOULAS and MIDWIVES, your answers are greatly appreciated.
Thank you for the positive help. HouseMom…you have it nailed. Unfortunately, people aren’t as open to it as we are. It is very disappointing.
Christiana…I am sorry you feel like your baby runs on your time. I am sorry you had missed out on the joy of waiting and anticipating. Instead, you chose to do a CSection because of your agenda. That wasn’t what the procedure was intended for. It is meant for complications, extremely prolonged births, risks with the baby, etc.
Also, I don’t walk up to random people on the street to tell them to have a natural birth. As a doula would tell you, as mine told me, a good friend is there to encourage you, no matter what decision you make. However, those decisions should be informed decisions. You shouldn’t go into the birthing room without a solid plan.
